After 14 years and some 410 appearances for Bolton Wanderers on the old First Division, Top-quality League, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Container (now called the Europa League), Ricardo Gardner comes with returned to his ancient Jamaica. Even when he or she arrived with partially-bleached dreadlocks along with bright yellow boots, the Bolton legend was still a rather understated player.
For that Trotters, Ricardo Gardner was the sort of player where you didn't know just how good you had this until he was gone. The versatile left-sided player could undertake a spot on your wing or at left back and do well at either one.
His goals for Bolton were relatively quite few, totalling just 23 in a 14-year career with the Trotters but there are numerous that will be remembered fondly one of many Wanderers faithful. Among the most notable was the goal he scored with the old Division One Play-off Finalized that took Bolton to somewhat of a 3-0 win over Brian Moyes' Preston North End and took the Trotters to your Premier League.
While that goal was the dagger during that match, it is not Bibi's most famous contribution for the White wines. That would come with 2007 as Bolton Wanderers travelled on the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich in UEFA Glass action. The Trotters faced a tough task that would end in a famous 2-2 results for Wanderers and yes it was Ricardo Gardner's goal, his first in five years and alone that season, that would likely open the scoring.
Sorry to say for Gardner, his career was stunted which has a few long injury lay-offs, with his knee being the major culprit. It was that injury that is going to cut his Bolton stay short by few months, suffered in a 3-1 the loss at Swansea last months.
Now, Bibi Gardner is upon his way home to Jamaica with a somewhat unclear future in front of him. Speaking in a prolonged interview on the club's established website (video below), Gardner explained he may try to get something happen Stateside:
"I've been keeping myself healthy to prepare for what God has up for grabs for me in the future, " Gardner explained. "My family are happy that individuals are heading back to help you Jamaica, which makes me happy.
"I want to find the family settled in a timely manner then I am maybe investigating doing a year in the MLS. Who knows, I might even go back here for another couple of years? We will see what goes on.
"I do [feel to be a proper Boltonian]. It's home out of the house for me. From the main day I came in this case everyone just made everyone feel so welcome, from Colin Todd to my team-mates and the fans.
Most MLS teams would be able to count themselves lucky should they be capable to take advantage of Gardner's get and wealth of experience. A 14-year long vocation in England (most that was spent in your Premier League), experience inside Europe, 112 caps designed for Jamaica, and a World Cup campaign under his belt should be enough to convince every potential suitors.
Gardner shall be missed at Bolton nonetheless we certainly hope he finds a brand new club and soon. The 34-year-old still has a lot left to allow.
