Phil Jones: How Good Is Manchester United's Youngster and How Good Can He Be?

Amid the euphoria that came with celebrating the club's 20th league title, a somewhat incredible quote from Sir Alex Ferguson went unnoticed.

"Rafa [Rafael] is incredible. That impetuosity has left him playing with greater maturity now, as the season has progressed. David de Gea has developed fantastically well," he said (via ESPN).

"[Phil] Jones, arguably the way he is looking, could be our best ever player. I think Jones may be one of the best players we have ever had, not matter where we play him."

Sir Alex has been known for talking up his players in the press before, but this is on another level. Better than George Best? Better than Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs?

Coming from anyone else, the quote would be laughable, but the phrase "In Sir Alex We Trust" is so phrased for a reason.

This article will look at Jones' swift rise over the past two or three seasons, assess his current abilities and predict just how good he may be in two or three years' time.

His early days saw him deployed at centre-back under Sam Allardyce, displaying plenty of tenacity and unbridled energy, even if his defensive awareness wasn't yet up to scratch.

Steve Kean clearly encouraged his man to get forward as much as possible, moving from box-to-box with relish. But a serious torn knee cartilage injury kept him sidelined for much of the 2010-11 season.

When he was fit, Jones played for Kean's team. The Scottish manager likes to take credit for the discovery of the prodigy, believing the marauding midfield role was his long-term calling (via The Telegraph).

The Red Devils snapped up Jones for £16.5 million in 2011, activating a clause in his contract. Soon after the transfer was completed, Allardyce declared 'When he gets more experience he will be able to control his team-mates and eventually he will wear the armband for England (via The Telegraph)."

In his first season at Old Trafford, Jones played in an impressive 29 of 38 Premier League fixtures and nine European games, becoming the first-choice right-back in the stead of Rafael and Chris Smalling.

But as versatile a player as he is, Jones is just not suited to playing full-back—his strengths in other areas of the pitch are too strong for him to be shunted out to the flanks.

This term, though injury has deprived him of as much playing time as Sir Alex may have liked, has seen him return to being deployed through the middle, both in midfield and defence.

In a key match against Real Madrid, he started alongside Michael Carrick, playing the role of spoiler with Cristiano Ronaldo as his target. In the Manchester derby, he lined up at the back with Rio Ferdinand as his partner.

I expressed my doubts about Jones from being moved from position to position earlier in the season but have since eased off a little in my skepticism.

His natural chutzpah and powerful build lends itself perfectly to the position, and any previous concerns about his sub-six-feet height have been lowly eradicated by his improvement in the air this season.

Edwards was capable of playing just about any position on the pitch but was at his best thundering up the pitch from defensive midfield.

He has that same dynamic threat bringing the ball up from the back and is notoriously stubborn in relinquishing possession.

Against Arsenal on Sunday, what stood out to me was the way his touch has dramatically improved. He also completed a miraculous 92 percent of his passes—a game-high (via WhoScored.com).

He may not be a natural finisher, missing several chances in the game, but his first touch and ability to turn away from a defender were terrific.

In the long term, he needs to find a position and stick to it, but for now he seems to be learning a great deal fulfilling a number of different roles.

Sir Alex is clearly a big fan of his and is sure to provide him with as much experience as possible in the next few seasons.

With the Scotsman's penchant for rotation, there will always be openings and opportunities for a prodigious, young talent.

The Red Devils are in need of a physical, yet creative box-to-box player in this summer's transfer window. But if a move doesn't materialise, Jones' recent development has made him a worthy option.

What's slightly concerning is his knack for picking up injuries. Against the Gunners he threw himself into challenges with an unhealthy zeal.

Phil Jones was unable to prevent the Red Devils from being eliminated from the Champions League by Basle last season. He was also on the field at Sunderland when the news came through that Manchester City had claimed the Premier League title in the dying seconds.

When the final whistle blew at Old Trafford last Monday and United were officially declared champions, he was there.

Sir Alex's faith and belief in his abilities may be scorned by some, but for now, there is no roof to Phil Jones' potential.

Moose Ridge Greens Review

Moose RidgeSouth Lyon, Michigan Grade: ATeachersa Comments: Correct aUp Northa experience in Southeastern Michigan. While claim was lain by many courses in Southeastern Michigan to an aUp Northa sense, Moose Ridge is certainly one of the few that pulls it faraway from the first gap to the last. That Raymond Hearn design takes full benefit of the hilly, wooded terrain to generate what could be the areaas most fascinating class. Moose Ridge is just a shot-makeras and thinkeras course. Their hallmark is, I do believe, are three relatively brief par 4s that can quickly run up your score if youare maybe not careful. The first is one of those starts the class (photograph above). From a heightened tee, you should fire a go on to an area between two fairway bunkers, and then up again to a complicated green. The whole matter procedures just 292/355 (whites/black). The seventh is another improved picture to a bunker-infested area that steps 278/318. Eventually, the eleventh requires a tee chance across a marsh to a twisting, turning fairway. It steps 285/343. The distances on these probably are made to lull you right into a false sense of confidence. If youare perhaps not thinking, youall get yourself a double or worse on a gap which should play out in par. The level 5 fifth at Moose Ridge Moose Ridge is not all short, although. The last is really a significant 562/630 garden par 5 that wraps around a river and finishes in a small, hidden green. If anybody has available it home in two from the back I would stunned. The second is really a 389/425 yard par 4 that finishes with an attempt up a ninety foot slope to a green on the plateau. Then thereas the evil par 3 ninth. Itas a yard shot to a narrow green thatas flanked right by a wooded hill heading up and left by a wooded hill going down. Iave made level on this hole and have enjoyed this course a half dozen times. Total, Moose Ridge comes in at 76,892 yards from the blacks, where it plays to a 73.2/138. From the white tops, itas 6,100 and a 69.7/128. Best advice because of this course: Play from the appropriate tees. If you let your ego acquire your brains you will don't have any fun. The seventh at Moose Ridge Problems on the several functions that I've visited have been great, with the exception of a few areas where shade from the trees helps it be hard to develop grass. Notwithstanding the rolling ground, Moose Ridge is walkable. I donat think they promote it, but Iave never been denied the opportunity. Be prepared for a good work out. Rate of play is definitely reasonable. My feeling is they allow a few extra minute between tee times than is common on public programs. Greens fees are on the high side for the location, where respectable tennis can generally be had for under $30 (walking). Moose Ridge is in the $50 - $60 selection, dependant on the day of the week and time of day. Spring and fall rates are usually very good, although. As well as the class, thereas an equally excellent exercise center. The club, integrated a traditional type is large and with great views of the course will be a fantastic place for a big event. Decide to try as I might, I canat find such a thing wrong with this class. Itas among my complete favorites, and I make at least once annually an effort to go. I specially love to play in the fall. Picking the Right Liverpool Beginning XI to Face Southampton

Same again? As far as Brendan Rodgersa outfield plans just do it of the visit to face Southampton at St. Maryas on Saturday, it's truly an instance of aif it ainat broke donat correct it.a Last Sundayas 3-2 win over Tottenham at Anfield might not have already been Liverpoolas most useful performance of the growing season, but it was the absolute most remarkable effect. Fielding an approaching side last weekend, the Reds were a danger in the years ahead through the entire sport, and facing the side who have conceded the joint-most level of house goals this season they must take that form into this weekend too. Club an alteration in purpose with the return of the fit-again Pepe Reina to replace his stand-in, Brad Jones, Liverpool should go with the asame againa at St. Maryas, in a match theyall have to get to keep up their problem for a European place next season. This can be a lineup that Rodgers should identify at Southampton. Pepe Reina Laurence Griffiths/Getty Photographs This year has seen Reina apparently miss more category activities than all his previous years in Liverpoolas target mixed, but though he has had some wobbles he's still pleasantly the best stopper at the club. Mauricio Pochettinoas area may confess frequently in home fits, but theyave also obtained in every but three of these 15 games at St Maryas this season, and so the Spaniard may have to be on his feet. Glen Brown Alex Livesey/Getty Images Among the first names on Liverpoolas teamsheet and a person whose attacking instincts will undoubtedly be as important as his defensive people here. Though Glen Johnson will have to watch on the loves of Gaston Ramirez as Southampton come forward, when the Reds attack heall be looking to provide a danger and an outlet to your home defence. Heall be considered a key person here. Jamie Carragher Michael Regan/Getty Pictures Yet another game closer to the finish for Jamie Carragher, who now has only nine suits left before hanging up his shoes. Heall be facing a Scouser in Rickie Lambert here, and the form that both show in 2010 means that it might well be considered a persuasive challenge. As with every battle he enters, Carragher may won't consider defeat. Daniel Agger Stu Forster/Getty Photographs Among the Daneas two objectives in 2010 proved to function as success in the 1-0 triumph over Southampton at Anfield at the beginning of December, and although head love to add to that tally here, itall be defensive concerns that heall have to concentrate on. With the retirement of Carragher, Daniel Agger is probable to end up being the chief in Liverpoolas defense in the years to come, and heall seem to continue to learn from him at St. Maryas. Jose Enrique Michael Regan/Getty Photographs Yet another outstanding getaway from Jose Enrique against Tottenham saw the full-back register his sixth guide of the Premier League season, and the Spaniard can again be crucial here as Liverpool seek to pin Southampton back in their particular half. It has been an excellent time for Enriqueasomewhat against the oddsaand heall be seeking a strong end, which could continue here. Lucas Leiva Alex Livesey/Getty Photographs It went notably unseen against Tottenham, but Lucas developed one of is own finer features since returning from injury. The very fact that he wasnat observed probably shows just how good this most unheralded of participants is, and heall be seeking to hold that performance level saturated in a fit where Liverpool really can dominate from midfield. Steven Gerrard Jordan Regan/Getty Images This season is matched by another start for Steven Gerrard and a chance to prolong his unexpected record of playing in every minute of every one of Liverpoolas league in to a 30th installation. Gerrard led his group brilliantly against Tottenham, and here heall be necessary to take control of a contest that may be tough for Liverpool, however it is nothing that they must be overly worried about. Gerrard has seen it all before, obviously. Philippe Coutinho Michael Regan/Getty Photos Three of the Brazilianas four appearances for Liverpool up to now came at Anfield, however it was possibly the one heas made away from home that was the absolute most extraordinary. His two helps in the 4-0 win at Wigan two days ago confirmed that the former Inter Milan man has certainly struck the bottom running during his short career in England so much, and against a team who arenat famous as one of the roughest in the section, he must be able to show herself once again. Stewart Downing Bob Brunskill/Getty Pictures May Stewart Downing make it three goals in three activities? That remains to be observed, nevertheless the recovery in the wingeras goalscoring type is obviously deserved for the effort heas place in. His ability has been showcased by close-range strikes against Wigan and Tottenham to enter into scoring positionsasomething that inadequate players in the Reds staff looked effective at doing in early portion of the campaignaand heall be trying to continue that improvement here. Luis Suarez Clive Brunskill/Getty Images The Premier Leagueas top goalscorer, most exciting player and greatest box office draw goes to Southampton for initially, and heall be as confident as ever. The Saints represent a group that Luis Suarez hasnat obtained against yet in 2010, and therefore the Uruguayan will be trying to set that right at St. Maryas in yet another fixture when the Reds is likely to be relying upon their main man. Daniel Sturridge Clive Brunskill/Getty Photos Daniel Sturridge didnat have the greatest of games against Tottenham, but his mere presence made life tough for the Spurs defenders; heall be seeking to accomplish the same to the Southampton right back line here. He wonat be happy unless he sees the net of program, and if he may do that here heall help his group towards a three points which may lift them to fifth devote the dining table by the end of the weekend, depending on results elsewhere. Can John Urlacher Be Considered A Healthy Stil At MLB For The Vikings?

The Vikings still are looking for someone to intensify at the center linebacker position with the draft over, and may still have a look at former Chicago Bear LB Brian Urlacher. The Vikings took two linebackers in the draft on Saturday, Gerald Hodges (final round) and Michael Mauti (seventh round) were teammates at Penn State a' but just Mauti probably will participate in the centre. That means the Vikings could go Erin Henderson from the weak-side to the middle, they could appear at 2012 seventh-round pick Audie Cole or they could expect that Mauti recovers from surgery he'd to fix a anterior cruciate ligament in his left leg experienced last November. That was the 3rd time Mauti suffered a torn ACL and the 2nd time he took his left one. Police donate heat lamps seized from cannabis farms to Notts County

In an attempt to turn equipment confiscated by police to legal use, League One club Notts County will use heat lamps seized from cannabis farms to grow grass.

These heat lamps were seized by police in raids on the local cannabis farms which grew marijuana. Now, these lamps will be used to grow completely legal grass at the Meadow Lane Stadium.

Founded a 151 years ago, Notts County is the oldest football club in the world. The last time they played in the top tier of English football was in 1991-92, before the inception of the Premier League. In the 21st century, the club has faced a number of financial problems and has seen a few owners come and go.

A spokesman for Notts County said that the police had donated the lamps to the club instead of being crushed as originally planned. Students from the Nottingham University are designing and building wheeled rigs to house the lamps and by the time next winter arrives, they should be ready.

Stadium manager, Greg Smith, said that the lighting rigs will help the grass grow even during the harsh rigours of winter. Smith told BBC:

"We have both sports at the club, football and rugby, and we've got a main stand that doesn't allow the light in during the winter.

To show their gratitude to the Nottinghamshire Police for the lamps, the club has made a donation to a local charity supported by the department. Police Superintendent Mark Holland thought it was a win-win situation for all involved. He also said:

"This property would normally be crushed, so it is important it gets reused and a lot of people are getting the benefit from it."

Two of the season's most influential people return to their parent groups

The problem with loan people is that they often keep just like quickly as they came in. This might not be a lot of a problem as it pertains to the likes of much-maligned Danny Butterfield or Robert Hall, who hasn't yet left the table for Bolton. Is when those mortgage participants become a few of the most influential elements of your group where it will become an issue. Wanderers fans experienced it before with famous brands Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge and may now proceed through it once more with Craig Dawson and Jay Spearing returning to their parent clubs. The former's three month mortgage has come to a finish while the latter leaves for treatment. Jay Spearing's damaged foot was always planning to keep him out for the rest of the regular time. The initial analysis was a three week lay-off since the bottom recovered. Nevertheless, it now seems like that injury will keep the person that was arguably Bolton's player of the growing season out for even longer. If the playoffs were made by Bolton Wanderers, the Liverpool loanee can miss out the semi-finals. His devastation was shared by spearing with the Bolton News: "I had do such a thing to play a part in the final. I'm given a slight chance, and If we get there, I had take it. "When I heard the headlines that my toe was broken in three areas I was positively ruined. "The way the lads were enjoying and the way we were going towards the play-offs, it was terrible to consider I wasn't going to play a role. "But, hopefully, I can still do something. the gaffer wanted me another in any way I could be involved, as long - I will be there." Bolton found Jay Spearing on a year-long loan on deadline day at the conclusion of the summertime move window. Over the span of the year, Jay Spearing scored two critical objectives for the Trotters and made 37 shows for Bolton in the category. Needless to say, it was not his goal-scoring report that endeared the midfielder to the fans. It had been instead his tenacity, determination to win the ball, and steady work-rate. Craig Dawson was signed on a three month loan deal in late January but didn't make his Bolton Wanderers introduction until two weeks later. It is no coincidence that Dawson's first time was also the beginning of the Trotters' run up the Championship table. That first look, to arrive the 2-1 house win against Burnley, saw Dawson show his power on protection and risk from set pieces. Goals would be scored four by dawson (arriving three activities) for Bolton, such as the inevitable match-winners against Peterborough and Barnsley. It is fair to express that Bolton Wanderers wouldn't maintain the career that they are in today minus the huge play of Craig Dawson and Jay Spearing. Both people were, overall, exceptional within the span of their respective remains. Nevertheless, Bolton Wanderers supporters should not be too focused on the lack of the 2 loanees. Medo Kamara has proven to be a great buy by Dougie Freedman, actually showing his ability in Spearing's lack. Are you aware that defense, David Wheater is on his in the past from the long-term injury. He has played some exchange minutes here and there but will soon make his total period introduction.

Under-the-Radar 2013 Basketball Draft Sleepers Guaranteed in full to Produce an Impact

I'm not sure exactly how many folks are sleeping on Jamaal Franklin anymore, but this child is guaranteed in full to produce a direct effect no matter where he's selected. Franklin's usefulness as a, passer, rebounder and defender allow him to contribute even if his jumper is not falling. And today, it's his firing consistency that is holding him back. But there is reason to believe this may come around. Although he only shot 28 % from downtown this season, he did make 1.3 of these per game. Franklin is a ready shooting, he just needs to increase his persistence. Otherwise, Franklin is the real deal across the hockey table. He's a great player who is able to perform on and off the ball and lead on all fronts. As a senior, he improved as a half-court scorer, introducing the step-back jumper and fadeaway in to his offensive arsenal. He also averaged over nine rebounds per game despite being just 6'5'', showing his motor and above-the-rim presence. Franklin can also be a visionary and willing passer. He led the team in assists, as well as rating, rebounding and steals, being the only person in the united kingdom to take action. He is my first-round person of the draft, and someone when the next level is reached by him I expect you'll make a quick impact.

View Tim Bogut Set JaVale McGee on Poster with Epic Smash

Claire Bogut experienced a verbal back-and-forth with JaVale McGee in Game 3 of the Golden State Warriors' first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, but it is safe to express the Aussie center had the past word in Game 4, as he thundered home a huge right-handed bust on McGee's mind. The Nuggets have been sending two defenders at the Warriors point guards through the entire line, and the story was the exact same in early going of Game 4. Bogut was serving as a ready safety valve in the initial quarter, getting the ball at the knee and moving it to open photographers or cutters as Denver's safety scrambled to recuperate. However in this case, he made a decision to manage things himself. Mike Amick of USA Today mentioned that the play took care of the unfinished business between Bogut and McGee: Then, Brian Geltzeier of Sheridan Hoops said what Warriors supporters had known for days gone by couple of weeks: Bogut was starting to seem like herself again. However, there have been some one of the inexperienced that had not seen this model of Bogut before, just like the great people at Hardwood Paroxysm: How dare you, sir? Please refresh your memory here. Maybe many properly, Bogut's huge throw got on the day that Monta Ellisa'the man he was exchanged for last springa'was silently swept from the postseason. Shortsighted Dubs fans used the conclusion of this past year booing owner Joe Lacob and lamenting the increasing loss of their precious small guard. How's that deal looking now? Well placed, Mr. Ratto. Well put.

Watch Dwyane Wade Swoop in for Traveling Putback Dunk Against Dollars

The defending champion Miami Heat would be the greatest team in the league, and it is known by them. That certainly has its benefits (see: 27-game winning streak, 43-4 record since Jan. 16), nonetheless it has some potential pitfalls, also. Miami knows it's usually a try to escape from breaking a casino game spacious, so coach Erik Spoelstra often struggles to have his players to commit to a complete 48-minute work against inferior competition. And despite what Brandon Jennings may think (via Bob Wolfley of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel), the eighth-seeded Bucks are simply that: inferior competition. So it came as little surprise that Miami somewhat happened out of the gate in Game 2 against the Bucks, general in the sense that they generally controlled the game but needed an interest to put the competition safely away. And, as he's been proven to do every now and then during his illustrious 10-year career, Dwyane Wade gave his club that interest. When Mario Chalmers squared up for an uncontested elbow jumper midway through the third quarter, Wade crashed the glass from someplace near AmericanAirlines Arena's main concourse for a harsh putback bust over a leaping Monta Ellis. And the same as he is been doing all season long, Wade instantly conjured up pictures of some classic "Flash" features, via Shandel Richardson of the South Florida Sun Sentinel: But the vitality of the finish had the others thinking maybe this was a trick learned in one of Wade's newest teammates, Chris Andersen (via Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida ): Wade's fly gave Miami a three-point lead at that time. It has since expanded to 18 (94-76, 3:10 left in the fourth quarter) and could possibly be more by the time you're looking over this.

How Manhunter Lakers Inside-Out Strategy Increases Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol

Kobe Bryantas season-ending surgery has made the Los Angeles Lakers in to an inside-out basketball team. A huge emphasis is placed by the emphasis on interior play on maximizing the abilities of Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol. Bryant and Steve Nash missed the final two games of the 2012-13 regular season, which pushed the Lakers to depend on their set of future Hall of Fame large guys. With the starting backcourt out of commission, the offense was turned by Mike DaAntoni over to his big men and they have made him look smart. Gasol turned a apower point-forwarda, primarily beginning and actually completing a few of the plays for the Lakers. Though the comparison has been made by few, the Spaniard have been transformed by DaAntoni into Chris Webber. The two-time world champion has been used at the elbows and on the reduced block where defenses just cannot contain him. His combination of footwork, post actions, moving and basketball IQ have made him arguably the absolute most effective offensive weapon for the Purple and Gold. In the remaining two regular season games, Gasolas saw his usage rate jump from 19.6 to 22.5 when compared with his figure for the whole campaign. He paid DaAntonias technique by calculating 12 details, 18 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. The increased work on offense also directly influenced his general activity. Gasol consistently looked for his teammates, made decisive pieces towards the container and attacked the glass tougher. The Lakers have benefited from his play and employed it as a for the playoffs. In the opening game of the Lakersa postseason run, the Spaniard produced similar figures and had the same effect on the offensive side. Gasol is a great force release point as well as a gifted large man. By using him as a facilitator, the Lakers have decreased force of these perimeters participants. Thatas important because other than Nash, they're primarily unaccustomed with major responsibilities. Moving forward, itas paramount DaAnotni keeps the same philosophy. Not only does his game plan rotate around Gasol and show off the large manas skills, but inaddition it gives the team its best chance at winning. The three-time NBA finalist simply makes things easier for his teammates as Howard can admit. With Bryant recuperating in the home from his Achilles split, the former three-time Defensive Player of the Year has observed his range called early and usually. His consumption price hovered around 20.1 for many of the growing season but increased in Bryantas lack to 24.5 per NBA.comas advanced level numbers device. In the ultimate two contests of the standard time, Howard placed averaged of 21 points and 17.5 rebounds per game. He increased his activity level around the side at both ends of the court but in addition made due along with his scoring options. Howard has seen his fair share of touches in the reduced block where heas been reliable scoring the ball. Furthermore, heas played well in concert with Gasol. The Lakersa starting power forward has repeatedly given Howard from the high post for spectacular finishes. Gasol has consistently cheated spinning defenses to find each and every time heas to the celebrity center shaken free. Ball is lobbed by pau Gasol to Dwight Howard for dunk. Because Gasol is this kind of heady player, itas forced defenses in to being extremely particular with the alternatives used when defending Howard. As an example, clubs have rarely fronted Howard as a result of Gasolas passing ability. Certainly, fronting him starts the whole other side of the floor for Howard and his frontcourt partner always finds him when he closes his opponent. With Howard publishing up, catching lobs and shaking loose round the container, the Lakers have revealed numerous useful situations with their center. Dwight Howard article up. In the Lakersa first playoff game, Howard made 15 and 20 factors rebounds on 8-for-12 field-goal shooting. DaAntoni has found a great method and therefore his class has been aggressive despite dropping Bryant. As the postseason unfolds, the Lakers must keep on going to their couple of large men. Any hope of playoff achievement rests square on their shoulders. However in fact, as good as the tandem has been late in the early and regular season in the playoffs, they have to play better. Pau Gasol return on pass to Dwight Howard. Gasol must make better decisions with the ball, usually the six turnovers heas calculating to date in the playoffs will end up the norm. Howard has the same situation but in different situations. She must just latch harder onto the ball during the post ups and when likely to the container. Much too often he gives the ball down where guards swipe at it and build turnovers. DaAntoni has found out the formula for the Lakers. Today his players must perform and capitalize on the strengths.

Nba Stars in the 2013 Playoffs Guaranteed in full to Be on a New Group Next Year

Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times reports that Milwaukee Bucks guard Monta Ellis plans to opt from the final year of his deal this offseason. The 27-year-old Ellis is defined to make $11 million next year if he plays out his current commitment, but it makes sense for him to reduce ties with the Bucks ASAP, especially given the condition between the team and point guard Brandon Jennings. Milwaukee are able to sign both people to long-term offers, and the wise money says that Ellis is the odd man out once the smoke clears next summer. Despite firing less than 42 percent from the field this year, Ellis continues to be one of the league's better scorers (19.2 PPGa'11th in the league), therefore he must have little difficulty locating a place to land when he officially cuts ties with the Bucks.

On those rounds, Iave been very glad that Fila sent me one of their London Waterproof Windjackets for screening. From a swing movement perception, the jacket fits very well. It's ample, and the amechanical stretcha fabric allows a whole lot of freedom of movement. Jacket is up in that respect from my older Nike Storm Fit by itas a big step. That tends to group and reduce action. The fit is great, but where in actuality the jacket truly shines is in its cloth. The substance is both completely waterproof and capable. That eliminates the problem presented by the rain that is kept by some cheaper waterproof jackets ( especially the aprovisionala jackets ) out, but lure your bodyas moisture inside. The end result of these coats is that you still end up moist. Just a little Boy Scout information here: Breathability is in no way new to fabrics. Gore-Tex 's been around since 1980. Certainly, I already own many abreathablea water coats for hiking and tennis applications. The big difference with the Fila cloth is its experience. This is much softer, lighter and more variable. It is, however, ultimately not as waterproof or as capable as a Gore-Tex fabric. Normal Gore-Tex climate materials offer 28,000 mm of waterproofness and 15,000 g/m2 of breathabilty. That means that the hat may last to 91 feet of rainfall in one day. A breathability of 15,000 shows that 529 ounces of water can move from the within out in a 24 hour period. Filaas Waterproof Windjacket includes a waterproof ranking of 3,000 mm (9 feet in a hour interval) and a of 3,000 g/m2 (105 ounces). Thatas significantly less, but problems routinely experienced by players are significantly less serious than those of individuals and other outdoor adventurers. If a player is faced with a rainstorm that'll preserve significantly more than four inches an hour or so, chances are heas headed to the clubhouse. Iave had no problem in a steady drizzle. The seams of the coat are also reinforced with waterproof tape. Those who have actually camped in bad weather (when I do generally with the Scouts) will tell you that the joints on a are its weakest link. I am sure the exact same is valid on jackets. Yet another nice feature: the jacket includes a detachable hood. I have two suggestions in the style office. First, the jacket wants additional pocketsa'an inside breast pocket at a minimum. People take so many gadgets today that I donat think a jacket might have too many pockets. Second, Iad just like a stronger sleeve closure. The recent ones have a velco loss, however it doesnat really close comfortable enough for my choices. Because a tighter sleeve can lure more body moistue, this may be a design decision. Still, I believe those are minor complaints for since the Fila London Waterproof Windjacket a jacket that fits as comfortably. I believe that Fila has made some great style tradeoffs for the golfer. Making the coat more waterproof would likely increase weight and create a lack of mobility. Fila also makes a womenas waterproof windjacket named the Victoria. Just like an aside: I assume that London refers to the town and that Victoria refers to the queen (unless it's one of many places named following the queen). Therefore, to help keep the naming conventions related, wouldnat it make more sense to mention the menas jacket the Churchill? Or the Peel, Disraeli or Gladstone (Victoriaas prime ministers). Or if the decision is to stay with London( for the popular rain) wouldnat it make more sense to mention the womenas coat the Manchester, Tyneside, or Glasgow? Tyneside seems a bit feminine, doesnat it. But I wander past an acceptable limit afield. When it comes to Fila Waterproof Windjacket: advised Victoria Womenas Waterproof Windjacket

Harry Duncan's Surprisingly Exciting Manual to Basketball Prominence

Good basketball people generally speaking distinguish themselves through the performance of extraordinary plays. It is theirAability to increase to the container, climb above the side, hit down competitive fadeaway jumpers orAdeliver a no-look pass that propelsAthem to recognition and their teams to success. Jordan Reed Scouting Report: NFL Prospect for Texas TE

Jordan Reed's introduction whilst the prime pass-catcher for the Florida Gators has caught the eyes of several. A former alternative quarterback, he displays an excellent amount of athleticism with the ball in his arms. He will probably never be a true on-the-line tight result in theANFL, but his knowledge and ability detaching from the development and working in area should show very beneficial for just about any group prepared to use him creatively. Total Benefits + Dangerous with the ball in his arms + Frame to carry more weight + Ability to split up out as a device Total Flaws - Lacks power and size - Technique and energy as a blocker need progress - Insufficient height may limit red-zone production and inline potential Draft Projection 2nd day Most readily useful Staff Fits KC, JAX, SD, CAR, GB, HOU, ATL Resources ( - ) Peak Fat Supply Duration 40 Time 6a2a 236 pounds 33a 4.72 Reed is wide-hipped but relatively lacks plenty of muscle and definition in his extremities, suggesting he could continue steadily to add size and strength without losing any speed or speed (Iad actually argue thereas a solid chance of him adding a little more explosiveness to his game as he gets stronger). By today however, Reed is both undersized and not particularly intense. His athleticism after the catch and ability to remove from the creation and line up as a broad receiver will more than likely draw many comparisons to his Gator small end predecessor, Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez, however, was an exceptional athlete at a larger size. Reed's size, part and uniform may cause many to draw comparisons to Aaron HernandezSam Greenwood/Getty Images Process Option system was spread by an option quarterback in high school, Reed split time between quarterback and tight end inAUrban Meyeras in 2010. After Meyer left in 2011 and Will Muschamp was appointed as head coach, his permanent home was found by Reed as a aJokera tight end. Heall line up at the original tight end position, as a wingback, a position receiver or external receiver. Character/Intangibles No known arrests or suspensions. Launch ( + ) Texas loved dividing Reed out as a device, and he'll likely do the same early in his NFL career. Since itas unlikely that Reed will be playing much inline small end, an NFL team will be able to move him around wonderfully to have him matched up on smaller defenders who wonat hold him up at the line of scrimmage. The agility have been shown by him to provide stutter-steps off the line, pushing the defensive back again to go his sides and open the door, when divided out. Paths Because of the limits of his quarterbacks over the last two seasons, Reed has not been afforded the chance to operate three to a really diverse path. He does the majority of his harm on short crosses, stay routes and corner routes. Where he is able to use his running skills to pick up yards in space, California also wants to get him the ball on display moves. Hands/Ball Skills ( + ) Reed fighting through a jam at the line of scrimmage and through the quarterback's struggle. Reed shows excellent human body get a handle on in the air. He has shown the ability to contort his body and make tough grabs while contesting defensive backs at the catch level. He also shows good sideline recognition, constantly showing that he can come down with his feet in bounds. He makes an attempt to regulate to badly thrown balls, catch with his arms extended far from his body and does a great job overall of perhaps not allowing the ball enter his chest. He's a whole lot more aggressive opting for the ball when detached from the formation and working along the perimeter in space. Reed rises in the air to produce a competitive catch. Pursue Catch ( + ) Acrobatic and agile after the hook, Reedas back ground being an option quarterback really shines when heas able to have the ball in place. He features amazing stop/start capacity and the vision to sort out trash on monitors. He isnat quite as volatile as Hernandez was coming out of Florida, but Reed remains a good athlete and is dangerous with the ball in his arms. Reed has a bad habit of not securing the ball in to his human anatomy while running in the open field, outlined by his most popular play of the seasona'fumbling while jumping for a go-ahead score against Georgia. Preventing ( - ) Reed shows off his YAC skills, while eluding defenders after a two-yard flat pass picking up a large amount of yardage. Reed lacks the energy to support blocks and his attempt is mediocre against front-seven participants. He puts his head down, lunges, stops his feet and doesnat move his hips through contact when one-on-one. However, he'll get his legs and give great work when his tandem gets movement on a double-team. He will mix it up with defensive shells when separate out as a wide receiver, and on big run plays key blocks are made by him down the field often. As a, he plays with too large of a foundation and overextends herself, which makes it difficult to recoup against he was set by pass-rushers up. He is also vulnerable to playing too tall and getting bull-rushed in the move and run game. Future Role/Versatility As he continues to add more muscle and get stronger Reed will likely be a part-time contributor in his first couple of years. But, his athleticism, ball skills and experience lining up and removing from the formation as a large receiver will make him a stimulating game piece and will give him a position to help relieve into until he becomes a full-time person. Heas not exactly Aaron Hernandez, but theyare much the same participants.

'The last thing I'd do is sell him' - United legend Robson urges Ferguson to ... - Daily Mail

Sir Alex Ferguson must keep Wayne Rooney at Manchester United, according to former Old Trafford legend Bryan Robson.

Rooney has been linked with a move to big-spending Paris St Germain this summer, with Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski rumoured to be coming in to replace him.

But an outstanding performance from midfield in the title-sealing 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday suggested the England international could adapt into a new role.

Don't let him go: Manchester United legend Bryan Robson (right) has urged manager Sir Alex Ferguson not to sell Wayne Rooney (below)

Robson told the Sunday Mirror: 'At the moment people are trying to put a bit of a downer on Wayne Rooney but the last thing I would do is sell him.

'He is an absolutely massive part of the club's success. In certain games he is a top, top player. He does things that other players can't do.

'For me, in the first 20 minutes against Villa, he won United the game. Everyone can go on about 'Van Persie, great goals', but Wayne's passing and intelligence were absolutely top class.'

Instrumental: Rooney and Robin van Persie were both at their brilliant best in Monday night's title-sealing win over Aston Villa

Rooney, 27, has been in the better form of United's frontmen since the term of the year and has 16 goals in 31 appearances for United this season.

Geno Jones Can Easily fit into the Planes Crime

The New York Jets chosen West Virginia QB Geno Smith as the pick of the second round (39th total). Planes unpleasant sponsor Marty Mornhinwegas offense is really a west coast one, but a' in its top just as in the Eagles a' requires pictures down the area. In QB Michael Vickas renaissance season, Vick was 4th with 8.1 yards per-attempt, a great job in his first full season as beginning. Genoas major problems have already been control and technicians. Almost any QB coming out of college not called Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III has serious flaws in their game (for the report, Russell Wilson did struggle reading the subject early in his period with the Seahawks). Hamilton Academical Barcelona a' Lionel Messi Shouldn't be That Crucial - Sportige

It shouldnat be in this way, not for a huge membership like Barcelona. Issues shouldnat hinge on the quantity of minutes one player, as skilled as he might be, plays everytime. Although eventually it wasnat enough for more than a meaningless draw, and yet once more Lionel Messi came on for a cameo appearance to save his team from defeat with one surprise purpose and another assist. Barcelona may have clinched the La Liga concept if they would have gained at the San Mames, their ultimate visit at this ancient arena, while Real Madrid would have lost in the derby. Both things didnat happen, and now the lead is 11 points with five matches to go. Itas not a question of if, but a question of when. And still, the general feeling from losing 4-0 in the Champions League was leading the people for the initial 60 minutes. Iam not sure Cesc Fabregas knows what his situation is anymore. He was employed as somewhat of a 9 in Messias shortage (waiting for his chance on the table), but didnat seem comfortable in the role at all, while Pedro was having one of his worst performances ever, ruining all the effort Alexis Sanchez (later rewarded with a target for it) did throughout the match. Thiago was the more dominant person in the midfield, despite Xavi playing alongside him. You can see the aftershock of the Munich defeat still featuring its way with particular players, also the most confident of winners Barcelona get in the squad. They did create chances to try and remove the cause Bilbao got in early stages, but all of the chances Fabregas, Pedro and Sanchez stumbled upon in the package were off target or simply just too simple for Iraizoz to take care of. And then came on Lionel Messi, 60 minutes right away, and everything as Fabregas moved back to an even more familiar role, changed, and Messi took the reins in advance. No injury slowing him down, no total distress on his teammatesa expression. Bilbao arenat Bayern Munich. It absolutely was adequate to score two objectives in three minutes before another defensive frailty allowed the Basque area to equalize with only injury time minutes left to play. Barcelona seem like a staff that canat watch for the year to be over, and Lionel Messi the only thing keeping some kind of venom and travel in the team. Thereas no possibility of defeating the four target debt from the very first leg, but thereas certainly the opportunity to bend down from your competition with a bit more respect and pride, and perhaps even make Bayen work a bit if things go a bit for their way. However the entire world knows that without these participants are close to impotent. Itas not they lack ability, however the last few months have subdued their skills and perception, playing next to this type of footballing phenom. One of the issues Vilanova will need to address, and quickly, is since while Messi is near to unstoppable most of the time, the relaxation of Barcelona isnat, where do Barca go from here. With no plan B and C, not to say participants not called Messi to execute these contingency plans, the glory days of the Guardiola routine arenat coming back.

Everton 1 Fulham 0 match report: Steven Pienaar goal edges Everton closer to ... - The Independent

With those garish orange boots reflecting off the sun's rays, Dimitar Berbatov clutched at his calf and exited the game. No real point in seeing this one out. And with that, on the 30th minute, Fulham's chances of getting anything at their most dreaded of away grounds vanished.

The subplots that define success and failure in football – the title surge, the quest for a place inside the top four, the tussle to avoid relegation; well none of them were to be found here at Goodison Park.

Everton have had a good season without ending their search for a first trophy under David Moyes. Fulham, meanwhile, had already hit the 40-point mark and seemingly safe from the drop, there was no motivation to perform with any amount of intensity.

The preconditions suggested that this was going to be no match of the day. And it showed. Fulham had not won a league fixture in their entire history at Everton. With nothing seriously at stake, that dubious statistic was unlikely to change from the moment Steven Pienaar swept the host's into a 16th minute lead following some rapid and intricate five-a-side football down Everton's right side.

Perhaps the most significant revelation from the day lay deep in Moyes's programme notes. Four paragraphs in, he references the future – seemingly one spent with Everton.

"The goal now for myself and the club is to continue to build on what we've already achieved and to keep moving the team forward," he wrote enthusiastically.

Moyes did not commit himself. But he is clearly thinking about what happens next at a club he has managed across 12 seasons.

Afterwards, Moyes joked about celebrating his 50th birthday party in style. "It will be a wild rave," he commented, somewhat uncharacteristically.

Moyes was more serious, though, about reaching a conclusion on his future at the end of the campaign. "When you've been [somewhere] 11 years, you'd hope that you'll be given the respect and the time to make a decision."

An indication of Moyes's current thinking is displayed in his team selections. Since it was announced this season would be Phil Neville's last at Everton, he has not appeared in a blue shirt and Phil Jagielka has already been installed as his replacement as club captain.

Neville was not even in the squad against Fulham. Several of Moyes's most trusted players are similarly over the age of 30 and Moyes appreciates that gradually, his squad will need reshaping. Maybe this is the start of that course.

Moyes also still believes there is at least a remote chance of European qualification. "We'll keep going and see what happens," he said. "We'll probably need to win every game but we've beaten last year's total with the points today and hopefully that shows a sign of progress. If we do get in Europe, we'll certainly have earned it because the sides above us [currently] are all really good sides."

Regardless, for the second campaign in succession, it is likely that Everton will finish it above Liverpool. Moyes will not mark is own team's achievements by the performance of their Merseyside rivals. As much as Everton have improved in recent years, Liverpool have degenerated.

Most importantly for Moyes, he feels that this Everton team is the most competitive he has had since marking his arrival at Goodison Park with a victory, which ironically came against Fulham on a sunny spring afternoon more than a decade ago.

Everton did not have to show any amount of consistent enterprise to secure the points in this fixture. Yet it always felt comfortable. Fulham's defenders could not deal with the pace and movement of Kevin Mirallas, Leon Osman and Seamus Coleman for the opener. "It was a terrific footballing goal," Moyes said. "It was deserved because we created enough similar opportunities."

Those opportunities fell to Mirallas and substitute Ross Barkley, who could have secured the result earlier only for Mark Schwarzer to palm away on both occasions.

Martin Jol, the Fulham manager, later refuted suggestions that he is planning to replace the Australian goalkeeper in the summer by recruiting Roma's Martin Stekelenburg. "As long as Mark is fit, we'd like to keep him," Jol said.

Everton (4-4-2): Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Mirallas, Fellaini, Osman, Pienaar; Jelavic (Barkley 67), Anichebe.

Fulham (4-4-2): Schwarzer; Manolev, Senderos, Hangeland, Richardson (Duff 56); Emanuelson, Enoh, Karagounis (Rodallega 77), Kacaniklic; Berbatov (Petric 30), Ruiz.

Everton 1-0 Fulham: Pienaar moves to cut difference on fifth-placed Tottenham - Yahoo! Activities

The Toffees were dominant from the off and they were compensated for their efforts when Seamus Coleman put up Pienaar in the Fulham field to place the hosts one goal to the good. The hosts proceeded to have numerous efforts around the Cottageras area, but werenat adequate to increase their cause ahead of the break. Fulham looked to possess got out of second gear after the break, but the hosts quickly deflated their spirits again with some prominent football that designed the Cottagers had little possibility of things. A flurry of good and chances saves from Mark Schwarzer intended that the rating remained 1-0, but the house part would have gained it by three or perhaps four targets ultimately. The deadlock was broken 16 minutes in each time a beautiful exchange of passing between Leon Osman and Coleman started the shift that saw the latter setup Pienaar to comfortably place the ball into the web from the penalty spot. Fulhamas situation in the game wasnat served on the half-hour mark, as Dimitar Berbatov was forced down with an damage and limped to the counter to be replaced by Mladen Petric. The visitors seemed a tad bit more up for the sport after the break; Urby Emanuelson blasted the ball over the bar after Everton's security had left him all the room he needed on the hostsa penalty spot. But, Everton had numerous instances to increase the lead and soon began to turn the screw once again. The hosts were also domineering at the center of the park, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Osman simply displacing Giorgos Karagounis and Eyong Enoh. Kevin Mirallas needs to have put Everton two goals to the good a quarter-hour from time after some pleasant skill that involved tipping the ball over a Fulham defense to set himself on the angle, but the attackeras strong shot was met by the arms of Schwarzer who forced the ball away. Schwarzer was called into action all over again, this time around in the closing moments of the game, as substitute Ross Barkley went one-on-one with the akeeper, but the youngsteras picture was fit by the Australian and the report kept only 1-0 since the whistle rang out. 'I would NOT sell him': Wayne Rooney must stay at Manchester United, says ... - Mirror.co.uk

'He is an absolutely massive part of the club's success. In certain games he is a top, top player' says Red Devils legend

Manchester United's legendary Captain Marvel has joined in the great Wayne Rooney debate and declared: "The last thing I would do is sell him."

Speculation over Rooney's future gathered fresh momentum even as United secured a 20th League title with victory against Aston Villa.

Rooney launched the long-range missile that Robin van Persie detonated for the spectacular second of his three goals yet was eventually substituted.

He has been linked with a summer move and United's interest in Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski, four-goal destroyer of Real Madrid in the Champions League, is no secret.

But former United skipper and inspiration Bryan Robson is adamant that his fellow Englishman must stay at Old Trafford.

Robson said: "At the moment people are trying to put a bit of a downer on Wayne Rooney but the last thing I would do is sell him.

"He is an absolutely massive part of the club's success. In certain games he is a top, top player. He does things that other players can't do.

"For me, in the first 20 minutes against Villa, he won United the game. Everyone can go on about 'Van Persie, great goals', but Wayne's passing and intelligence were absolutely top class."

Rooney underlined his versatility by playing in midfield against Villa and Robson believes he makes a crucial contribution regardless of his role.

Robson, widely acknowledged as the most complete midfield player of his generation, has one concern about Rooney playing in that position.

He said: "He's got to learn that when you're going back towards your back four, you've got to be more careful not to get robbed of the ball. He got robbed a couple of times the other night."

He revealed that as the United players were celebrating their latest triumph, Sir Alex Ferguson was already plotting the quest for more trophies.

Robson said: "I went into his office after the Villa game and he was not talking to me about how we'd played on the night and won the title, he was talking about next season and how they can improve.

Birmingham City versus. West Ham: Report, Grades and Post-Match Response - Bleacher Statement

Birmingham City will are unsuccessful inside their attempt to replicate as English Premier League champions in 2013, but you wouldn't know it by watching the Citizens on Saturday vs. West Ham. Roberto Mancini's team centered from the opening kickoff, using a lot of force and coming away with a 2-1 victory at Etihad Stadium. The score rarely shows how amazing City was in front of their house followers, however. The Citizens examined West Ham early and never let up, developing chance after chance. Ultimately, almost a hour into the match, Sergio Aguero finished off a play by City, getting the house team forward 1-0 going into halftime. The Blues would create more scoring odds in the second half, and Yaya Toure would eventually leave without doubt as he blasted one in to the web, increasing his side's lead in the 83rd moment. On the other end, West Ham could score a cheap one late, when Joe Hart made a mess of Andy Carroll's shot. Overall, though, the Hammers were unable to break through, and their bid to at least force a at Etihad fell short. While West Ham managerASam Allardyce certainly can't be too amazed by the effect, he'll certainly be unhappy with your time and effort displayed from his side on Saturday. The win ensures that City will remain easily before third place in the league dining table with four matches left to play. Meanwhile, the beat marks the first in over per month for West Ham. Fit Marks Sergio Aguero, Birmingham City: A Area striker Sergio Aguero was one of the most aggressive people on the pitch throughout the day long, and it paid off for him as he put house the match's first target. The 28th-minute strike was Aguero's 11th EPL purpose for City this year. Andrew Carroll, West Ham: C Andrew Carroll had his possibilities for West Ham, but he did not capitalize behind enemy lines when it mattered most. His match grade wasn't certainly helped by his 19th-minute booking. He recorded a goal late because of Joe Hart's bad maintaining, nonetheless it does little to help ease the suffering for West Ham. Carlos Tevez, Manchester City: B+ Carlos Tevez was very active on Saturday, producing odds early and frequently. He was unlucky to not come away with a goal, but he'll truly be content to pocket three more points for City in the EPL desk. The seasoned forward attempted four pictures on Saturday before coming off late as a swap for Javi Garcia. Jussi Jaaskelainen, West Ham: B- No, West Ham goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen didn't record a clean sheet on Saturday. But had anyone else been between the branches for the Hammers, City might have authorized several more objectives. They actually had their chances. As the outcome reflects defectively on Jaaskelainen, he did well to help keep the bleeding to a minimum. He noted six major saves on Saturday, adding to his league-leading total. Jaaskelainen certainly outplayed City's Joe Hart. Follow Bleacher Report Highlighted Writer Patrick Clarke on Facebook.

Money matters: Dimitar Berbatov AND Martin Jol could leave Fulham because of ... - Mirror.co.uk

Dimitar Berbatov and his Fulham boss Martin Jol could both be open to moves this summer because of concerns over the club's spending plans, writes the Sunday People.

And after two years in mid-table at Craven Cottage, it is believed he may fancy a switch back to the German Bundesliga, where he previously played and managed.

Berbatov, who signed for Fulham because of his relationship with Jol, is also said to be frustrated at the club's refusal to strengthen their squad significantly.

Jol's relationship with well-regarded chief executive Alistair Mackintosh is understood to be strained over the issue.

Jol originally signed a two-year deal which would expire next month, though Fulham insist they have activated an extra one-year option for his services – so any interested club would have to pay compensation.

Berbatov also has another year on his deal but Tottenham, Fiorentina and Juventus wanted the 32-year-old striker last summer and, after a 13-goal Premier League campaign, the brilliant Bulgarian is sure to attract further interest.

Both Jol and Berbatov were keen for Fulham to sign Tottenham's England midfielder Tom Huddlestone – with whom they both worked at White Hart Lane – but the Cottagers will not meet Spurs' £7million asking price.

Jol wants to sign Ajax midfielder Eyong Enoh, currently on loan at the Cottage, but has admitted the club will not take up an option to buy the 27-year-old Cameroonian because they believe he is priced too highly at around £4m.

Tottenham Hotspur stutter in race for Champions League spot - IBN Live - IBNLive

London: Tottenham kept their top-four hopes alive after snatching a late 2-2 draw against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday. A comical opener from Gareth Bale gave Spurs a ninth-minute lead but an instant reply from Emerson Boyce put the Latics on level terms just two minutes later.

The hosts were the dominant side from thereon in and a sensational strike from McManaman early in the second half looked to have given them victory, though a late own goal from Boyce meant Andre Villas-Boas's side left with a share of the spoils.

Roberto Martinez made two changes from the side that lost 2-0 to West Ham last weekend, with Jean Beausejour and James McArthur returning in place of Antolin Alcaraz and Stephen Caldwell.

The visitors, meanwhile, brought Jermain Defoe and Tom Huddlestone back into the starting line-up, with Kyle Naughton also replacing Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Predictably, Bale was the first man to threaten as the Welshman headed wide two minutes in before a Huddlestone free kick crashed against the post shortly afterward.

But with Bale proving such a constant threat, Spurs would not have to wait long for their opener - although the manner of the Welshman's strike was in stark contrast to any of his 18 other league goals this season.

Maynor Figueroa and Joel were exchanging passes in their own box but as the Wigan stopper came under pressure from Bale, his attempted clearance went straight into the 23-year-old's boot and into the back of the net.

Such a comical goal could have dented any team's confidence but the Latics responded instantly as they won a corner straight up the other end, with Boyce then rising unmarked to head home his third of the season.

And it was the hosts who looked the likelier to score thereafter as Arouna Kone clipped a shot from distance just over the bar on 24 minutes.

Despite late pressure from Bale and Defoe, though, it would remain 1-1 at the break, while Mousa Dembele's afternoon was cut short on the stroke of half-time as the injured Belgian made way for Lewis Holtby.

But upon the resumption, McManaman ensured Wigan would pick up where they left off before the break in breath-taking fashion. Latching onto a loose ball on the edge of the area, the 21-year-old took the ball away from Naughton and smashed a thunderous half-volley into the top corner past a helpless Hugo Lloris.

It was a fantastic strike and the lead it gave Wigan was no less than Martinez's men deserved. The home side's next move was easy to guess: they brought on another defender and an extended period of resolute defending followed.

But the hosts could only hold on for so long and, from a set-piece late on, Boyce turned from hero to villain with a late touch that sent the ball into his own net - keeping Spurs' Champions League hopes alive and compounding Wigan's relegation worries.

Rafael Nadal could get larger Roland Garros seeding

Currently ranked number five on earth, Rafael Nadalas seeding at the future Roland Garros 2013 contest may be upgraded to at least number four, that's, if the recommendation of French Open board member and former French Davis Cup captain Guy Forget is accepted. In an interview with Reuters, Forget said that the event should consider giving an increased seeding for Nadal considering that he has won an archive 7 French Open titles. Nadal trailed fourth-ranked David Ferrer in the ranks and it's impossible he can surpass his compatriot over time for the French Open. The 11-time Grand Slam champion has 1,590 points to defend before the claycourt Slam while Ferrer needs to defend 830 points. If the initial ratings hold, Nadal could fulfill top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. aSince we can see them meeting in the finals of the greatest events in the following days, it would be a pity to possess them [meet] in a in Roland Garros,a Forget said. aThe principles state the Grand Slam events have the to change the seeding regarding the condition of the participants. Wimbledon did that previously. I'd perhaps not believe it is unreasonable to improve the seeds,a he added.

Chelsea will certainly be glad to return home to the friendly confines of Stamford Bridge on Sunday to play host to Swansea City after three straight road matches which were all controversial affairs, to say the least.

After losing to the Swans in the Capital One Cup semifinals in a strange series that saw Eden Hazard slapped with a red card after his infamous sideline dance with a ball-boy at the Liberty Stadium on Nov. 3 in the second leg, the Blues will be undoubtedly be on their best behavior.

But the really big motivating factor here for third-place Chelsea (18-8-7, 62 points) against ninth-place Swansea (10-12-11) will be trying to get the win and the three points as the three big London clubs jockey for position heading down the homestretch in search of those two valuable Champions League qualifying spots still up for grabs in the English Premier League.

Fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur (18-7-8, 61 points) will be at Wigan Athletic on Saturday (Fox Soccer Channel 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT) while third-place Arsenal (18-9-7, 63 points) will host league winners Manchester United on Sunday (Fox Soccer Channel 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT).

The Swans and manager Michael Laudrup enter on a five-game winless streak (0-2-3) and for Swansea, finishing in the top half of the table when it's all said and done is its stated goal.

On offense, the Swans have almost been a one-man band this season with Michu (17 goals) scoring 40 percent of the club's 43 league goals entering this showdown with the soon-to-be former European champions.

Jonathan De Guzman (5 goals), Luke Moore (3) and Nathan Dyer (3) are the next three leading scorers for the first Welsh team ever in England's top flight—though they will be joined by fellow countrymen Cardiff City next season after the Bluebirds won the npower Championship and earned promotion earlier this month.

And there is no doubt in my mind now that the Illuminati and the Audubon Society have now joined forces to make sure one day all teams in the Premier League will have bird nicknames after the recent promotions of Swansea and Norwich City (Canaries).

So hold on tight Crystal Palace (Eagles), Leeds United (Peacocks), Nott's County (Magpies), Brighton & Hove Albion (Seagulls), Sheffield United (Owls), Bristol City, Swindon Town, Altrincham, Charlton Athletic and Cheltenham Town (All nicknamed Robins), there is still hope for you.

In goal for the Swans, 29-year-old Dutch international Michel Vorm—who has been linked to possible summer moves to Arsenal and Barcelona, but denied a rumored move to Liverpool last week according to the Daily Mirror—has had a solid season (six clean sheets), but will have to really be at his best here against a hungry Chelsea side.

Capital One Cup champions Swansea have been pretty poor away from home (4-5-7, 15 goals for, 19 goals against), but Vorm and the Swans were defensive enough to earn a 1-1 draw against the Blues in the team's EPL meeting on Nov. 3 at Liberty Stadium.

Chelsea (10-4-2 at home, 35 goals for, 13 goals against) and interim manager Rafael Benítez will be riding the high of Thursday's dramatic 2-1 win over FC Basel 1893 in Switzerland in which the effervescent David Luiz banged home the late game-winner on a free kick in the first leg of the team's Europa League semifinals series.

A cup-tied Demba Ba, John Obi Mikel and Gary Cahill all sat out against Basel and may be part of Benítez's starting XI for Chelsea which will host Basel in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Thursday (Fox Soccer Channel, 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT).

With so much at stake, the dynamic duo of Juan Mata (10 goals, 12 assists in EPL) and Eden Hazard (nine goals, nine assists) will surely be in the Blues advanced midfield behind either striker Ba or Fernando Torres.

And with the seemingly always-on Petr Čech in goal, a little bit more luck due its way and the powerful home-field advantage, Chelsea should find a way to top the suddenly anemic Swans in this one.

The last time these two clubs met in West London last season, the Blues rolled to a 4-1 win.  This game should also be fairly high-scoring as the posted total (3) indicates.

For the sake of its confidence, Chelsea (33 games played)—which still has a game in hand over Arsenal (34)—needs to be at its best against Swansea here and not have any controversial decisions from referees impede its chances of landing that coveted Championship League berth.

Projected Swansea City starting XI: Vorm; Rangel, Chico, Williams, Davies; Britton De Guzman, Michu; Dyer, Routledge, Hernandez.

Winners League: Jurgen Klopp hails 'amazing' night after Borussia... - The Independent

Borussia Dortmund instructor Jurgen Klopp praised an aunbelievablea night as his side was fired by Robert Lewandowski to a distress 4-1 Champions League conquer Real Madrid in Germany. Lewandowski shot four objectives as Dortmund copied fellow Germans Bayern Munich's Champions League semi-final domination of Spanish resistance. The Poland striker offered Klopp's men an early lead and, after Cristiano Ronaldo equalised late in the first half for Real Madrid, Lewandowski struck three times more in the second half. Klopp said: "It was an unbelievable, great game of my team. "It was so difficult they're so brilliant on the counter-attack." and because they are quick and so powerful Madrid chef Jose Mourinho, who is now facing the process of re-motivating his team for the semi-final return leg at the Bernabeu in six times' time, thinks a shock is achievable if the whole side raise their game. "I think they were the most effective group undoubtedly and won every specific struggle on the pitch and were tougher than us, more aggressive physically and tougher psychologically so they earned it," Mourinho informed Sky Sports 1. "How it went from 1-1 to 4-1, I really don't know because everything happened in a very short time in the far goal from the positioning where I was. "But we lost simple property and we couldn't deal with their counter-attacking and their move. "We prepared for the game so well, in every detail, once we usually do, specially in a semi-final. "We prepared for everything, we were ready for everything. "We are very comfortable concerning the work we did. I do believe many of the boys did not conduct and many of the boys didn't have a good night and this is strictly once you can't because at club level this is the 2nd most critical match in the entire world of football make mistakes. "The first one is the Champions league closing, the 2nd one is the Champions League semi-final then when that you don't perform on a very special day it is very disappointing." Asked in case a place in the last was still a realistic chance, Mourinho said: "It is obviously extremely tough but in basketball it could happen. "Of course where everyone performs at a level and every opportunity you've, we are able to, on a crazy night and every goal you score is by using a high level of performance. Needless to say you can." Pennsylvania
