South Florida Committee's Super Bowl Bid Includes Game on Aircraft Carrier

In hopes of bringing the Super Bowl to Miami in 2016 or 2017, the South Florida Super Bowl Bid Committee laid out its plans on Thursday, according to NBC Miami.

According to NBC Miami, the plans include playing the Super Bowl on a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier near downtown Miami. There would also be a "Super Bowl Park" in downtown Miami that would keep all Super Bowl-related activities in one area, per the report.

Unfortunately, it's not a sure thing that Miami lands the Super Bowl. The Florida House didn't pass a bill last week that would have allowed the Miami Dolphins to venture for taxpayer money to pay for stadium renovations. That should make it more difficult for Miami to compete with other cities for the Super Bowl.

But the idea of playing on an aircraft carrier is a clever way of trying to land the Super Bowl regardless. It's actually not a bad idea. Think about it. It would be unique to the Super Bowl, replacing the notion of a glorious stadium with a game on the water.

Plus, Miami isn't that bad of a place to play football. Sunshine and a vivacious downtown scene actually make it an attractive place to play and watch the game. The team has formed an interesting plan that could make up for the fact that renovations likely won't be made to the stadium. We shall see if it pays off.
