On Sunday afternoon, Jaime Garcia and the St. Louis Cardinals will attempt a sweep of their total series with the Co Rockies, one in which the bullpen hasn't even been called upon.
That's because Shelby Cooper and Adam Wainwright combined to shut the Rockies' effective offense down with a couple consecutive one-hit marvels.
This can be a Rockies team that came into the series leading your National League with 169 runs scored. We're not dealing with the Cardinals dominating a good weak lineup.
The Cardinals' starting rotation is in uncharted territory right now—with Callier and Wainwright's effort, Saint. Louis tied the huge league by setting all the way down 40 opposing hitters as a way, first accomplished by that Texas Rangers in 1996.
Garcia doesn't have exactly been a slouch, succeeding his last three activities and posting a 1. 31 ERA. Considering the Rockies' active woes, Garcia stands a better-than-even possibility of at least continuing that Cardinals' dominance.
The current starting five for the Cardinals have certainly build an amazing first 1 fourth, but where does it rank historically among the great rotations within the last 25 years?
