Picture: Facebook Source: Media Limited THE UK baseball lover filmed punching a horse at the week-end claims he is a dog lover who only acted in self-defence. Newcastle United fan Barry Rogerson aimed a right hook at a police horse named Bud throughout assault following his team's 3-0 loss to loathed local rivals Sunderland on Sunday. The 45-year-old has told the Daily Mail he's now living in fear after his name and address were published on the internet by animal rights activists. He says the footage of him that has been watched around the globe is deceptive, and that he just struck out in panic following the horse was spooked by a firecracker and charged at him. "At first I tried to obtain him away from me with my left hand and then I punched him with my right," Rogerson said. "It was absolute panic. I believe it made connection with the horse. VIEW THE EPISODE BELOW "It was an instant response. The horse just came towards me and I responded stupidly. "I apologise because of it a' I did maybe not actually head out to attack a horse. I really like animals. I've got three dogs and a fishpond." The horse wasn't injured in the event. Rogerson described the scarf he wore across his face wasn't there being an attempt to obscure his personality, but since a filling had dropped out of a front tooth.
