Source: AAP Great BRITAIN football lover shot striking a horse at the weekend states he's a dog lover who only acted in self-defence. Newcastle United fan Barry Rogerson targeted a right hook at a police horse called Bud all through violence following his team's 3-0 loss to loathed regional opponents Sunderland on Sunday. The 45-year-old has informed the Daily Mail after his address and name were placed on the internet by animal rights activists he's now surviving in dread. He says the video of him that's been watched around the globe is misleading, and that he only struck out in panic after the horse was spooked with a firecracker and charged at him. "At first I tried to obtain him far from me with my left hand and then I hit him with my right," Rogerson said. "It was sheer panic. I think it made contact with the horse. "It was an instant effect. The horse only came towards me and I responded stupidly. "I apologise for itA- I did perhaps not really head out to attack a horse. Animals are loved by me. I've got three dogs and a fishpond." The horse wasn't wounded in the episode. Rogerson explained the scarf he wore across his face was not there as an attempt to hide his personality, but since a filling had fallen out of a front tooth.
