But Balotelli, who quit Manchester for AC Milan in January, is confident Roberto Mancini can lead his old club to victory — just as he did last season.
"As soon as I arrived at City, everyone talked to me about the derby as the game to win and Old Trafford as the stadium to conquer. I understood that — and did it!"
The controversial striker used the occasion to reveal his now iconic 'Why always me?' motif on his way to becoming one of English football's most talked about stars.
And Balotelli admits he will never forget the day City made such an emphatic statement during their title-winning campaign.
He added: "I am sure me and Nigel de Jong will watch the game — perhaps not together — but we will both supporting our ex-team-mates, the boss and the supporters big time. We want a win."
While Balotelli and De Jong are naturally disappointed to have seen the Premier League trophy slip from City's grasp, they are backing Mancini's men to repeat their FA Cup success of 2011.
Balotelli said: "The FA Cup is a prestigious and important competition and winning it means to have glory for everyone — the players, the whole team and the supporters.
"Of course I hope that City can win the FA Cup. The team has the potential to do it and the boys deserve at least a trophy in this season."
