There were reports this morning that Ferdinand could yet ignore the opportunity to represent his country again, either in response to being omitted by Hodgson until now or in order to stretch his club profession. Ferguson, who reported no deaths following a gain which expands his team's cause at the top of the table to 15 points, was pleased with Ferdinand's contribution. He said: "Rio has always had the capacity to break into midfield. He does not do it as much as he used to but he did today and got us an objective. "Most of times in 2010 we have played well. The performance today doesn't reveal the 15 points ahead we're. "I thought a few of Reading's basketball was really good however they didn't actually make any chances. Danger was expected by me from set-piece perform but we did guard really well." Ferguson recognized the deflection which Rooney's shot got off Reading defender Alex Pearce helped his team. He added on ESPN: "I do not know if the goalkeeper could have saved it or not but it was a bad deflection and went over his head".
